Connect NowMetrix to Gemini Enterprise Business
Make read-only NowMetrix analytics available to your Gemini Enterprise team through an administrator-managed custom MCP connection and an individual NowMetrix login for every user.
Check that you have the correct Gemini product
Google offers several products with Gemini in their name. Custom company MCP servers are available in Gemini Enterprise – Business edition, which opens at business.gemini.google.
| Product | NowMetrix custom MCP |
|---|---|
Gemini Enterprise – Business editionbusiness.gemini.google | Supported through an administrator-managed custom MCP server connection. |
Gemini app for Google Workspacegemini.google.com | A Workspace subscription and enterprise data protection alone do not provide this custom MCP setup screen. |
Before you start
- A Gemini Enterprise – Business edition team administrator must create and enable the connection.
- Every person using the connection needs an individual NowMetrix account with access to at least one tracker.
- NowMetrix provides read-only tools. Gemini cannot change analytics data, tracker settings, team permissions, or billing information through this connection.
- The administrator needs organization-specific OAuth credentials from NowMetrix. A REST API key cannot be used instead.
1. Request the OAuth connection details
Gemini Enterprise Business requires a pre-registered OAuth client. Contact NowMetrix Support through the dashboard support form or at info@nowmetrix.com before creating the connection.
Include the following information:
- Your organization and NowMetrix main account.
- The name and email address of the Gemini Enterprise team administrator.
- A note that the credentials are for a Gemini Enterprise – Business edition custom MCP server.
NowMetrix will register an organization-specific OAuth client and provide these values securely:
- Authorization URL
- Token URL
- Client ID
- Client Secret
2. Add the NowMetrix MCP server
- Sign in to Gemini Enterprise – Business edition.
- Open Settings & help.
- Select the correct Team, then open Manage team → Connected apps.
- Select Add MCP Server.
- Enter the values in the table below. Use the OAuth values supplied by NowMetrix exactly as provided.
| Gemini field | Value |
|---|---|
| MCP Server URL | https://dash.nowmetrix.com/mcp |
| Name | NowMetrix |
| Description | Read live and historical NowMetrix publishing analytics, including traffic, top pages, sources, trends, responsibilities, proofreading suggestions, and product documentation. Use only for trackers available to the authenticated user. |
| Authorization URL | Use the value supplied by NowMetrix Support. |
| Token URL | Use the value supplied by NowMetrix Support. |
| Authorization URL Parameters | Leave empty unless NowMetrix Support supplied an additional value. |
| Client ID | Use the organization-specific Client ID supplied by NowMetrix Support. |
| Client Secret | Use the matching Client Secret supplied by NowMetrix Support. |
| Scopes | openid email profile |
- Select Add.
- Return to the connectors list. The new connection is disabled by default.
- Enable NowMetrix so that it becomes visible to the team.
3. Connect an individual NowMetrix account
Enabling the MCP server for the team does not give every member the same data access. Each member authorizes an individual NowMetrix account:
- Sign in to Gemini Enterprise – Business edition.
- Open Settings & help → Connectors.
- Find NowMetrix and select Connect.
- When the browser opens NowMetrix, sign in with your own NowMetrix account.
- Review the access request and approve the read-only connection.
- Return to Gemini Enterprise and confirm that NowMetrix is connected.
4. Test and use the connection
- Start a new conversation in Gemini Enterprise.
- Send Start NowMetrix.
- Confirm that Gemini returns the trackers available to your account and three example questions.
You can then ask, for example:
With NowMetrix, give me a concise live briefing for example.com: current users, today's pageviews, the five leading articles, and the strongest traffic sources. Highlight anything unusual.
If you use Gemini's Agent Designer, add NowMetrix under the agent's Data and tools settings before publishing the agent.
Disconnect or revoke access
- Individual user: Disconnect NowMetrix in Gemini Enterprise under Settings & help → Connectors. You can also revoke the OAuth grant in the NowMetrix dashboard under Settings → Security.
- Team administrator: Disable the connector to hide it from the team, or delete the custom MCP server connection from Manage team → Connected apps.
- Compromised Client Secret: Contact NowMetrix Support immediately so the organization-specific OAuth client can be rotated or revoked.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Add MCP Server is missing | Verify that you are using business.gemini.google, that the app title shows Gemini Enterprise – Business edition, and that your account is a team administrator. Your organization may also need to allow the Public Preview feature. |
| Gemini rejects the OAuth configuration | Do not use a REST API key. Verify the Authorization URL, Token URL, Client ID, Client Secret, and scopes against the values supplied by NowMetrix Support. |
| Authentication does not complete | Disconnect NowMetrix, reconnect it, and finish the NowMetrix sign-in and approval in the same browser. If the problem continues, contact NowMetrix Support with the time of the attempt and the displayed error, but never include the Client Secret. |
| NowMetrix is not visible to team members | The custom connection is disabled by default. A team administrator must enable it in Manage team → Connected apps. |
| Gemini does not use NowMetrix | Confirm that the user connected their individual NowMetrix account. For a custom agent, also add NowMetrix under Data and tools. |
| A tracker is missing | The connection uses the same permissions as the user's NowMetrix account. Verify the tracker assignment in NowMetrix. |
