Connect NowMetrix to ChatGPT

Ask ChatGPT about your live and historical NowMetrix data. The connection uses your NowMetrix login and does not require a REST API key.

Before you start

  • Use ChatGPT on the web. Custom MCP apps are not available in the mobile apps.
  • You need a NowMetrix account with access to at least one tracker.
  • Your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings must allow developer mode and custom apps. In managed workspaces, an administrator may need to enable or create the app.
  • NowMetrix provides read-only tools. It cannot change your analytics or tracker configuration.

1. Enable Developer mode

  1. Open ChatGPT in your browser and open Settings.
  2. Select Apps, then Advanced Settings.
  3. Turn on Developer mode.
If the option is unavailable, ask your workspace administrator to allow developer mode under Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected Data. Business workspace members cannot create custom apps unless an owner or administrator does so for the workspace.

2. Create the NowMetrix app

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps and select Create. Workspace administrators may also use Workspace Settings → Apps → Create.
  2. Enter NowMetrix as the app name.
  3. Paste this MCP server URL:

  1. Use OAuth when ChatGPT asks for authentication. Do not enter a NowMetrix API key or manual OAuth client credentials.
  2. Select Scan Tools.
  3. When the browser opens NowMetrix, sign in and approve read-only access.
  4. Return to ChatGPT, wait for the tools to appear, and select Create.
  5. In a managed workspace, an administrator may still need to publish or enable the app before members can use it.

3. Use NowMetrix in a chat

  1. Start a new ChatGPT conversation.
  2. Open the tools or apps menu and select NowMetrix.
  3. Send Start NowMetrix as your first message.

NowMetrix checks your access, lists your available trackers, and suggests useful first questions. You can then ask, for example:

With NowMetrix, give me a concise live briefing for example.com: current users, today's pageviews, the five leading articles, and the strongest traffic sources.
