Connect once, then start asking

The connection only takes a few steps. When your AI tool asks for a custom connector or MCP server URL, use this address:

  1. Open the connector settings in your AI tool.
  2. Add a custom connector and paste the NowMetrix address above.
  3. Sign in to NowMetrix when prompted.
  4. Approve access to your NowMetrix analytics data.
  5. In your first chat message, enter Start NowMetrix.

Start with a quick hello

Once the connection is ready, enter Start NowMetrix as your first message. This checks the read-only access, shows the trackers you can use, and suggests three questions based on your first available website.

NowMetrix cannot approve security dialogs on behalf of Claude, ChatGPT, or another MCP client. If the client requires confirmation for individual read-only tools, those confirmations remain under the client's control.

Five practical ways to use NowMetrix MCP

Start with one of these prompts and replace example.com with your publication's domain. Naming NowMetrix helps the assistant select the connected MCP tools and combine several data areas in one answer.

1. Run a live newsroom briefing

Example prompt

With NowMetrix, give me a concise live briefing for example.com: current users, today's pageviews, the five leading articles, and the strongest traffic sources. Highlight anything unusual.

2. Investigate a traffic spike

Example prompt

Traffic looks unusually high on example.com. With NowMetrix, compare today with the usual pattern, identify the pages driving the change, and explain which sources are sending the additional readers.

3. Create a weekly performance report

Turn prompts into scheduled reports

Scheduled tasks in ChatGPT and scheduled tasks in Claude Cowork can run prompts automatically. When your NowMetrix connection is available to the scheduled task, this can turn the examples above into recurring reports and analyses.

Every weekday at 08:30, use NowMetrix to summarize yesterday's performance for example.com. Include pageviews, visits, the five strongest articles, and the most important change compared with the recent pattern.

Hourly pulse check

Example prompt

Every hour during newsroom hours, use NowMetrix to check whether example.com is clearly above or below its usual traffic pattern. Report only meaningful changes and name the pages and sources driving them.

Scheduled-task availability and connector access depend on the AI tool and your plan. Run the prompt once manually, check the result, and then schedule it with the NowMetrix connection enabled.

When the answer is not what you expected

Problem What to do
You do not know which tracker to use Ask which trackers are available to your account, then use one of those tracker names in your next question.
A tracker is missing Check that your NowMetrix account has access to that tracker.
The answer says no data is available Try a shorter date range, check that the tracker is active, or open the NowMetrix dashboard to verify incoming traffic.
The AI tool gives a vague answer Ask it to call NowMetrix again and show the exact numbers it received.
