Proofreading

Catch language issues in the stories your audience is reading.

NowMetrix regularly reviews leading articles and gives editorial teams practical suggestions for spelling, grammar, punctuation, wording, and internal consistency.

Focus proofreading where it matters most

At regular intervals, NowMetrix selects top articles from your website and reviews their text for possible language issues. This keeps the focus on stories that are currently attracting attention instead of treating every page as equally urgent.

Prioritized articles

Leading articles are reviewed automatically while proofreading is active for the selected website.

Practical suggestions

Findings can cover spelling, grammar, punctuation, wording, and other language improvements.

Article consistency

NowMetrix also compares names and factual details such as numbers, dates, times, ages, locations, and roles within the article, and flags contradictions when the article itself provides a clear correction.

Useful context

Each suggestion includes the original wording, a proposed correction, the surrounding text, and a short explanation.

Proofreading suggestions are generated automatically and may be incomplete or incorrect. They support editorial review but do not replace it.

Review suggestions directly from Top Pages

Open an article from Top Pages and select the Proofreading tab. The tab shows how many active findings are available for that article.

Suggestions are grouped into categories such as spelling, grammar, punctuation, and Article inconsistency. For every finding, the dashboard highlights removed and added wording in a compact inline diff and shows the relevant article context and explanation below it.

Article inconsistencies are reported only when conflicting names or factual details refer to the same subject and context, and the supplied article itself clearly supports the correction. NowMetrix does not use this category for external fact-checking.

Use Copy correction to copy the suggested wording and paste it into your publishing system. NowMetrix does not edit or publish the article itself.

Keep the list useful for the whole team

Action When to use it
Mark as corrected Use this after the text has been corrected in your publishing system. The finding leaves the active list and remains available under processed corrections.
Ignore in future Use this when the same recommendation should no longer be shown for the website, for example because the wording follows an editorial style rule.
Processed corrections Open this area to review findings that the team has already handled.

These actions help colleagues see which suggestions still need attention and prevent the active list from filling up with decisions the team has already made.

Manage Proofreading for each website

Admins can open Settings → Proofreading, select a website, and activate or pause automatic proofreading.

  • Last 30 days shows how many articles were reviewed and how many visible findings were identified.
  • Ignored suggestions lists decisions that should no longer appear as active findings.
  • Authorized team editors can deactivate or reactivate ignored suggestions for their assigned websites.
  • Admins can permanently delete an ignored suggestion when it is no longer needed.

Slack notifications

Slack is connected once per website and can then be reused by Live Readers and Proofreading. In the Slack notifications card, an admin can enable alerts and choose a separate channel for new visible suggestions.

Each article produces at most one bundled message per check. Ignored, corrected, or previously known suggestions are not announced. The message links directly to the article’s Proofreading tab in NowMetrix.

Settings and statistics are kept separately for each website, so editorial rules can reflect the needs of each publication.

Availability and test phase

Proofreading is not available for every website. NowMetrix must be able to access enough article text to review it. Websites with a paywall or other access restrictions may require an individual setup. Please contact NowMetrix if Proofreading cannot be activated for your website.

Currently in testing: Proofreading is free to use until further notice. It is planned to become a paid feature at a later stage. Pricing and the transition will be communicated before charges are introduced.

Use suggestions through API and MCP

The latest visible Proofreading suggestions are also available outside the dashboard:

  • Use the NowMetrix MCP to ask for current findings in a connected AI assistant.
  • Use the Proofreading REST API to retrieve current findings for your own internal workflows.

The same website permissions apply, and Proofreading must be enabled for the requested website.
