What's new this month at NowMetrix

A concise record of new NowMetrix features, workflow refinements, and reliability improvements. We publish the latest updates on the first day of every month.

Stylized NowMetrix Traffic Network showing live reader connections between sources and articles.

Explore live reader journeys with Traffic Network

The Sources section now includes an interactive network view that visualises how readers arrive at your website and move between pages. Select any source or article to explore its direct connections. The network can be zoomed, centred, paused or opened in fullscreen, while back and forward controls make it easier to navigate through your analysis.

Export your Recap data

Recap results can now be exported as Excel or CSV files. Choose between daily values, the top 2,000 articles or both for any available date range. An optional keyword filter lets you create focused exports without changing the Recap currently displayed in the app.

Clearer traffic-source attribution

Internal navigation and email traffic are now identified as separate sources, giving newsrooms a more accurate view of how readers discover and navigate their content. Improved domain filtering also helps keep traffic from unrelated websites out of realtime reports.

Further improvements

Croatian is now available as an interface language. We have also improved the handling of international characters, refined Recap charts and article links, and made it easier to share feedback directly from the app.

TV Mode for the newsroom

NowMetrix now offers a dedicated full-screen TV Mode for shared newsroom displays. It brings active readers, today’s pageviews and visitors, the daily comparison, top traffic sources and Top Pages together in one clear view. Stories gaining unusual momentum are highlighted, while ranking changes remain calm and easy to follow.

Understand every article’s traffic mix

Top Pages now shows how each article’s audience is distributed across Organic Search, Google Discover, Social, Direct, Referral and AI assistants. The same breakdown is available in the article details, making it easier to understand where a story’s readers are coming from.

More control over Proofreading

Individual articles—such as live tickers—can now be excluded from future automatic reviews and enabled again later. Existing suggestions remain available. We also improved article extraction and retry handling to reduce missed reviews when the full text cannot be read on the first attempt. Learn more in the Proofreading guide.

Browser notifications by website

You can now choose which websites should send browser notifications. The selection applies across live-reader alerts, responsibility updates and uptime notifications, giving teams more precise control when they manage several publications.

Smoother monitoring and reporting

NowMetrix now checks for existing Uptime monitors before suggesting a new setup. Brief realtime interruptions are less likely to trigger premature connection warnings, Recap handles incomplete article links more reliably, and historical chart markers remain correctly positioned.

Proofreading notifications in Slack

Proofreading can now notify a selected Slack channel when new suggestions are ready. Notifications group the findings for each article, clearly separate correction categories, show the publication domain, and link back to NowMetrix. Additional safeguards reduce repeated notifications when article positions or wording change slightly.

Publication-specific proofreading

Proofreading can now take additional editorial guidance for each publication into account alongside the standard NowMetrix checks. We also improved how repeated phrases, article-internal inconsistencies, and uncertain suggestions are handled, helping editorial teams focus on more relevant findings with fewer false positives.

Safer API access and easier exports

API access is now easier to manage with multiple labelled keys that can be renamed, rotated, or revoked independently. New step-by-step guides explain how to use NowMetrix data in Google Sheets, Looker Studio, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power BI.

Better support for AI assistants

New setup guides show how to connect NowMetrix to ChatGPT and Claude. The documentation also includes practical examples for recurring reports, pulse checks, weekly management summaries, and editorial shift handovers.

Documentation and reliability improvements

The documentation now provides clearer navigation, more practical examples, and visual walkthroughs of key workflows. Behind the scenes, sign-in and API access are more resilient during temporary service interruptions, article retrieval works more reliably with protected publisher websites, and short cache refreshes no longer trigger warnings too quickly.

Automated proofreading for leading articles

For publications with Proofreading enabled, NowMetrix can now review leading articles for possible spelling, grammar, punctuation, wording, and article-internal consistency issues. Each finding includes the original wording, a suggested correction, the surrounding context, and a short explanation.

The suggestions support editorial review but do not replace it. Article consistency checks use only evidence found within the supplied article and are not external fact-checking.

A clearer correction workflow

Proofreading findings appear directly in Top Pages and the article detail view. Corrections can be copied, marked as completed, reopened, or ignored in the future. Processed findings remain visible to the team, while the comparison between original text and suggestion is easier to scan on desktop and mobile.

Proofreading for APIs and AI assistants

Current visible suggestions are now available through the NowMetrix REST API and MCP. Connected AI assistants can also retrieve authorized article content for summaries or further analysis.

Top Pages and theme refinements

Traffic spikes are highlighted more clearly without overpowering the surrounding content. Article titles, live-reader counts, and proofreading badges are easier to scan, especially on smaller screens. A new Pure theme base also provides a cleaner black-and-white appearance.

More accurate daily comparisons

Historical pageviews and previous-day comparisons now use the publication's configured time zone more consistently. This keeps values around midnight assigned to the intended calendar day.

Documentation and reliability improvements

The documentation now includes detailed guides for Proofreading and its API, together with direct access to contact and data-protection information.

Behind the scenes, Proofreading preserves existing results more reliably during temporary failures, processing jobs are coordinated more safely, and application updates detect incomplete data changes earlier.
